NFCC continues to contribute to MPA debate

NFCC has continued to participate in the debate and investigation of marine reserves as a fishery management tool. Ongoing research and mounting evidence on the efficacy of marine reserves in protecting and enhancing populations of fish inside their borders has not yet stemmed the controversy that arises in discussion of the application of this tool for fishery management. In addition to our past work, which you can acces on this site, we have completed an assessment of MPA designation processes that will be published in February by the National MPA Center and are now engaged in development of a consensus conference on the science of marine reserves as a fishery management tool.
