NOAA Fisheries and the MPA Science Center are organizing a technical workshop series that will draw from the outcome at the consensus conference. Dr. Churchill Grimes, who heads up the NOAA Fisheries effort, participated in NFCC's planning committee.

Dr. Brock Bernstein, president of NFCC and conference organizer, said he was pleased with the support of the conference as well as progress on technical work completed by a planning committee that was staffed by NFCC and experts from the Communication Partnership for Science and the Sea and the Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans at Oregon State University.

"We've established a really excellent working relationship with the COMPASS and PISCO folks, who have been exceptionally professional and helpful," Bernstein said. PISCO assembled the collection of background papers to aid the committee in developing questions for the conference.
